چکیده

Introduction: Urolithiasis refers to a condition characterized by the formation or occurrence of calculi in urinary tract. In Asia, about 1%-19.1% population suffers from urolithiasis. Pneumatic and laser intra corporeal lithotripsy are mostly preferred frequently used during endoscopic management for ureteral stone.
Aims: This study was done compare efficacy versus pneumatic lithotripsy.
Methods: prospective comparative conducted May 2019 April 2020 Nobel Medical College Teaching Hospital, Biratnagar. Patients with mid- distal ureteric size 5mm more failed medical were included study. The patients equally divided into two groups: & pneumatic. procedure measured terms stone clearance. Stone less than 5mm, nephrolithiasis on same side stone, pregnancy, bleeding disorder patient not giving consent excluded study.
Results: Total 130 enrolled this clearance observed 86.15% group 96.92% at end 6 weeks. 13.85% did achieve where as it 3.08%. mid rate significantly higher (93.33%) group.(p=0.041) When techniques compared results similar. mean operation time 28.89 ± 8.26 min 22.93 6.05 group(p<0.05).
Conclusion: Holmium: YAG is superior lithotripter calculus also consuming.

Treatment of Distal Ureteric Stones-comparative Efficacy of Transureteral Pneumatic Lithotripsy and Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy.

BACKGROUND Ureteric stones greater than 6mm require intervention. Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) and ureteroscopy (URS) with intra-corporeal lithotripsy (ICL) are two least invasive therapies. Both show acceptable stone clearance. What should be the first line of treatment in distal ureteric stones? We conducted this study to compare the efficacy-of ESWL and pneumatic ICL in order ...

Pneumatic lithotripsy: a new modality for treatment of ureteric stones.

Two hundred and twenty ureteric stones in 214 patients were fragmented intracorporeally by pneumatic lithotripsy under general/regional anaesthesia in a day care set-up. Patients were followed-up weekly and retreatment was done at 4 weeks where necessary. Majority (77%) of patients were in the age group 21-40 years with a male to female ratio of 2:1. Stone location was 86% in the lower third, 1...

Ureteroscopic management of distal ureteral stones in children: holmium:YAG laser vs. pneumatic lithotripsy

Results: Their ages ranged from 18 months to 14 years (mean: 8.5 ± 3.5 years). The overall success rate for the holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy (100%) was higher than that of pneumatic lithotripsy (81.8%), but the difference was insignificant (P = 0.087). The complication rate was higher in pneumatic lithotripsy than in holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy (36.4% versus 4%, P = 0.023). Treatment time an...
